Symptom of lumbar spinal canal stenosis
The symptoms start with lower back pain and numbness and pain in the legs, with standing up and walking causing them to worsen in many cases. The classic symptom is known as "intermittent claudication," which means that it is difficult to walk for more than a short time because of leg numbness, but that resting for a short while makes it possible to go on. In most cases, the symptoms tend to progress gradually, and rapid deterioration is rare. However, once the spinal canal has narrowed, it will not reopen by itself, and once symptoms have progressed to a certain level, they are unlikely to improve spontaneously.
